So, I recently got a used EVGA RTX 3080 graphics card from an ex-mining setup and repasted it. After some stress testing with FurMark, the temperatures hit around 84°C, but everything seemed fine. I enjoyed a full day of gaming with it. However, the next day, when I powered on my PC, it immediately lost signal after the login page, turning the screen black while the GPU fans screamed to life at full speed. I tried resetting the GPU and the PCIe cables, but the issue persists. Occasionally, I can boot into Windows for a second before it loses signal again. However, I can enter the BIOS without any issues. I swapped it out for another RTX 3080 I have, and it worked perfectly. Could the original GPU be cooked, or is it a PSU issue? I also didn't change the thermal pads and left some thermal paste residue on the GPU die. My specs are a Cooler Master Gold 750W V2 PSU, AMD 7500f CPU, Gigabyte B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI motherboard, Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a Samsung 1TB SSD. Any suggestions?

From what you've described, it usually points to a GPU power problem. You've already checked the GPU and cables, so it seems likely that your PSU could be failing. I had a similar issue a few months back; after swapping my dying PSU, everything worked fine again. It might be worth testing with another PSU if you have one!
It sounds like a power-related issue. Try using MSI Afterburner to limit the card's power to the official limit and see if that helps. If not, running an OCCT test could give you more details about the hardware's temperature and performance, but it might be tricky if you can't boot into Windows. Also, I think your PSU may be the culprit since you mentioned trying another RTX 3080 that worked without problems. It's worth checking. Good luck!
I think you can set the limits based on the power draw, but it won't apply directly to the EVGA card. Just try to limit it as a test and see how it reacts.
Thanks! Should I use the other GPU to set the power limits on MSI Afterburner, or would it not apply because it's a different card?
