My PC is Really Struggling with Gaming—Need Help!

I've built my own PC during the pandemic, and I feel like I've overpaid for all the components while trying to keep it budget-friendly. I'm a casual gamer, and after getting hyped for Battlefield 6, I've noticed my PC, especially the GPU, is struggling. When I play, the graphics card crashes after about 20-30 minutes, turning the screen black and shutting down. Despite trying to update drivers and keep everything clean, I'm still facing this issue. I'm considering upgrading my GPU to an NVIDIA RTX series, maybe the 5060, since my friends have no problems with their setups. Currently, I'm using an RX 5600 XT which should handle most games, but I can't deal with these crashes anymore. Any advice on what I should do? I'll also share my full build for reference.

This might sound a little unorthodox, but try running your PC with the side panel off to see if it still crashes. Sometimes, cases have terrible airflow and could cause overheating issues. You might be surprised—it could just be a cooling issue rather than the GPU. If the cooling is fine, then you might want to consider whether your GPU is simply underpowered for the games you're playing now.

You could also try monitoring the temperature with some software instead of testing it like that. Good way to get a clearer picture of what's happening.

That makes sense about the airflow! I'll definitely give it a shot.

Have you checked if your power supply is sufficient? Sometimes it's not enough wattage, which might cause issues.

I’ve got a 550W Gold 80+, so I think it should be alright, but it’s worth double-checking!

Honestly, I've heard that the 5060s have been lacking in VRAM compared to their AMD equivalents. If you're looking at that budget, an AMD GPU might serve you better even though you're hesitant. But if you really want NVIDIA, maybe look into the 5070 or something higher up the line for better value.

There are definitely discussions about NVIDIA's XX60 series not being the best value. What I've seen is that the RX 9060 XT 16 GB is a solid pick for around 350 euros. If you lean towards NVIDIA, be aware that the RTX 5060 has less VRAM for a similar price. Keep in mind, it isn't the only option out there if you're willing to consider AMD again!

I remember dealing with AMD driver issues way back. But as far as the newer series go, it feels like they've improved a lot.

I'm worried too about switching to AMD since I've had these crashes. I just want something stable without needing to build a powerhouse.

I’ve got a friend with a 5700 XT who said he’s never crashed, even with everything open. His setup isn’t perfect, so I doubt your issues stem from game load. If you want NVIDIA, the 5060 Ti sounds like it could do the trick without pushing too hard on FPS requirements.

Honestly, starting fresh might be your best bet. An AM5 build could work wonders for you, especially if you want to upgrade down the road. If you're gaming at lower resolutions, there's no harm in going for a 9060 or 9070 now, since they deliver great performance at 1440p. Keep your power supply in mind too when planning upgrades!

I usually game at 1080p but upgrading sounds tempting to improve visuals.
