My PC is running, but the screen is black—what should I do?

Hi everyone! I'm having a bit of trouble with my PC. I discovered that my Windows OS files were corrupted, so I went through the lengthy process of reinstalling Windows. The good news is that I managed to boot into the Windows installation, but it just shows "0% Installed. This may take a while." Fast forward a few hours later, my computer is still running, but the screen is black and my keyboard and mouse aren't powering up, making it impossible to wake it. Should I just hang tight and wait it out? I'm okay with being patient, but it's already been 2-3 hours with no progress, and it worries me that my peripherals are off despite the PC being on. Update: After restarting my PC, I finally got into the Windows 11 setup, but after selecting my preferences and checking for updates, the monitor lost signal and the keyboard and mouse switched off again.

Hey! Make sure your keyboard and mouse are plugged directly into the motherboard instead of any case USB ports. If your PC seems unresponsive, try turning it off and on using the case power button. Sometimes you might need to hold the button for a few seconds to get it to shut down properly. If it still doesn’t respond, unplugging it and plugging it back might help.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve got them plugged into the motherboard, but I’ll give the case ports a try too. I’ll also follow your advice about turning the PC off and unplugging it if needed.
