My PC is slowing down after power outages – what should I check or replace?

I've been experiencing some issues with my PC's performance recently, especially after a few power outages in my room. I built my PC about a year and a half ago, and until these outages, everything was running smoothly. Now, it takes longer to log in, apps are sluggish to open, there's a delay when I type, and my games have started lagging. I'm worried that these power issues might have damaged some of the components. Given my setup—AMD Ryzen 5 7600X CPU, GIGABYTE B650I motherboard, 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM, Samsung 980 Pro SSD, MSI GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card, and a Corsair SF750 power supply—what parts should I focus on checking or possibly replacing to fix the slowdown? Is there anything else I should know or check? Thanks for your help!

You should definitely run some performance diagnostics to see if any components are failing. Tools like Memtest86 can help check your RAM, and CrystalDiskInfo can give you insights about your SSD's health. If you find nothing wrong, it might just be that these events stressed your hardware a bit, and a clean reinstall of your OS could help speed things up again.

Good idea! I’ve found that reinstalling the OS can do wonders sometimes.

It sounds like the power outages may have affected your hardware, especially if the PC is now running slower than before. Start by checking your power supply; it's crucial since it supplies power to all components, and any damage could lead to performance issues. Additionally, keep an eye on your RAM and SSD; these can slow down your PC if they're not functioning properly. You might also want to check for any overheating issues or loose connections inside your case, as those can cause crashes and slowdowns too.

What if my power supply seems fine? Should I run any diagnostics on my RAM or SSD?
