Hey folks, I'm dealing with a really annoying issue where my PC keeps freezing, crashing, or throwing BSODs—even during simple tasks like watching videos or browsing. I've spent weeks troubleshooting and testing everything I can think of, but I'm at my wit's end. My question is: what do you think I should try next? Should I consider replacing the motherboard or CPU, or is it worth upgrading my entire setup? Here are my specs:
- **CPU:** Intel Core i7-7700
- **MOBO:** GIGABYTE H270M-D3H (latest BIOS version: F8d)
- **RAM:** 32GB (4x8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DDR4-2400 MHz)
- **GPU:** GTX 1060 6GB
- **PSU:** Seasonic M12II 620W
I have already tested the RAM extensively and it passed, the motherboard BIOS is up to date, and I've cleaned everything up, but the crashes persist even with just the original RAM sticks. The only components I haven't swapped yet are the CPU and motherboard. I welcome any suggestions or insights you might have! Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you’ve been through a lot of troubleshooting! Given that the system is still crashing with minimal hardware, I would lean towards the CPU or motherboard as the potential issue. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could try borrowing a compatible CPU or motherboard from a friend to see if that resolves the crashing. It could save you from making a purchase you might not need.
I feel your pain! Those WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR messages usually point to a hardware issue, often with the CPU or a connected PCIe device. Since you’ve covered a lot of ground already, I’d recommend checking those dump files if you can access them. They can give you deeper insight into the problem. If you can’t get them directly from the PC, you might need to hook your drive up to another machine to grab those logs. Good luck!
Yeah, definitely try to pull those dump files! Just remember, even with minimal components connected, it's possible to get crash dumps. Fingers crossed you can nail down the culprit!
Thanks for the suggestion! I've already been thinking about borrowing parts. It would be great to narrow it down without spending money first!
