I recently got a top-tier Threadripper system for running Blender, but I've been experiencing some frustrating shutdowns during GPU rendering with the latest Blender 5.1. The PC just powers off completely, and I have to cycle the power supply to get it back on. I checked the Windows Event log, but it only shows a critical error related to GameInputRedistService.exe, which might not be the culprit since it's not occurring during every crash. My temperatures look good—CPU at around 45°C, GPU at 61°C, and VRAM at 70°C. The 12-pin connector feels fine, but I haven't reseated it yet. This happens about once out of every six or seven renders, so I'm wondering if it could be a software issue or if it's definitely a hardware problem. Why would it only occur while using Blender? Any insights would be appreciated!

It sounds like your power supply could be the culprit. Hard shutdowns like you're describing often indicate a PSU issue or overheating CPU, but since your temps are normal, it likely points to the PSU tripping a safety feature. You've got a 1600W unit, which should handle loads easily, but maybe it's faulty or you're exceeding its limits in some way. Trust me, it's not a software issue—if the system requires you to cycle the PSU to reboot, that’s a clear sign it's hardware-related. You're probably right about that being the source of the problem.

Thanks for the input! So if this is indeed a PSU issue, should I look into warranty options or just replace it outright?
