Hey everyone, I need some advice about my PC. It's about 5 years old and I have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H-CF motherboard running BIOS version F50 from November 27, 2019. Recently, while I was using Windows 11 with a few apps open, my PC suddenly rebooted and showed a message saying, "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key."
I encountered this issue for the first time just two weeks ago, and I suspected it was due to a dead CMOS battery, since I hadn't replaced it in five years. So, I swapped the old battery for a new Duracell CR2032. I didn't check the BIOS after the change, but the error didn't pop up again until today. When I rebooted and checked the BIOS again, the Windows Boot Manager was listed, but it was placed last in the Boot Order. I haven't changed any settings since replacing the battery. So, what do you think could be going wrong this time?

The latest BIOS version for your motherboard is F67g, which was released four months ago. I'd recommend upgrading it and seeing if the problem happens again before doing any further troubleshooting. Just a heads-up: a dying CMOS battery typically causes a loss of settings only when your PC is unplugged. When it's plugged in, your system should keep the RTC and CMOS storage running.
If the CMOS battery was really dead, you'd likely see time errors whenever you start up your PC. I think a BIOS update might be the way to go since yours is quite old. Just double-check that any new BIOS version is compatible with your CPU; sometimes updates can create compatibility issues with older processors.
It might still be the CMOS battery giving you trouble. Sometimes, the new battery can be improperly seated or could even be faulty. Try reseating it just to be sure, and check the voltage if you can.
