I'm dealing with a frustrating issue: my PC powers on, turns off shortly after, then turns back on in a loop. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps, including resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery (left it out for several hours to be safe). I've disconnected everything except for the power cables and fans, and even booted with just one RAM stick, but nothing seems to work. This all started happening after I turned off my PC to install a new GPU. I suspect that secure boot settings might have an impact, but I'm not sure. The screen stays black because it doesn't register anything before shutting down, and I'm hearing some beeping noises because I disconnected the front USB panel to fit the new GPU, but reconnecting it hasn't helped. My setup is an Elite Desk 800 G2 tower with an i5 6500, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB. I really want to fix this without having to buy a new PC, especially since I use it as a TrueNAS server.

It sounds like you’re stuck in a boot loop, which is often due to a BIOS misconfiguration or a hardware issue. When resetting the CMOS, I find that removing the battery for at least 15 minutes usually does the trick for me. You should also check if there are shorting pins on your motherboard that you can use to reset the BIOS directly. After that, try booting with only one RAM stick and without the new GPU. Make sure to connect your monitor to the motherboard’s video output since your CPU has integrated graphics. If it still doesn’t boot, your motherboard might have an issue.

I actually did that and kept the battery out for 30 hours, plus I tried booting without the GPU or any extra components, but I’m still stuck. This is really giving me a headache!
