Hey everyone! I'm not super tech-savvy, so please bear with me. I booted up my PC today and was surprised to find that the internet just wasn't working. I've always used Ethernet, but it's showing errors now. When I try to connect to WiFi, it says I'm connected but there's no internet access. The Ethernet error says, 'No DHCP server was found.'
The weird thing is, my phone can connect to WiFi just fine, and my Xbox is working too, so it seems to be an issue with my PC itself, not the network or router. This problem came out of the blue, as everything was working perfectly just two days ago.
I even tried my phone's hotspot, and that works, so it's definitely related to my PC. Here's what I've attempted:
- Checked all cables
- Restarted my PC about 20 times
- Restarted the router
- Followed Windows' recommendations
- Reverted Windows update to the version from two days ago
- Checked for driver updates (none available)
- Ran 'cmd netsh winsock reset'
- Reset network settings
I feel stuck and would really appreciate any advice on how to get my internet working again. Thanks!

It sounds like your PC's connection settings might be configured incorrectly. Sometimes, it’s just a small checkbox in Windows that can cause these headaches. But in your case, make sure the connection is indeed set to automatic; I had this issue once too!
Have you tried changing your DNS settings? Set it to 8.8.8.8; it can sometimes help resolve connectivity issues. Just a thought!
How do I do that?
It is set to automatic, so that isn’t it I think.
