I built my PC back in 2019, and it has worked flawlessly until now. Suddenly, it won't boot. The fans are running at full speed, and my monitors indicate 'no input,' but otherwise, nothing happens.
So far, I've done the following troubleshooting steps:
- Reseated the GPU
- Reseated the RAM and tried swapping their positions
- Changed the motherboard battery
- Cleaned all the dust from the GPU and the inside of the case.
I do have onboard graphics, and I tested the second monitor cable (HDMI) with that, but still no luck. Do I need to try booting the system without the GPU installed?
I noticed something odd: when I connected the HDMI from the second monitor to the motherboard graphics and restarted, the GPU fans didn't turn on, but the GEFORCE LED lit up, which wasn't the case when the fans were running full blast. When I disconnected the DP from the GPU and rebooted, the fans went back to full speed with no GEFORCE LED lighting up.

It might help to remove the CMOS battery and see if that resets anything. If you're open to it, try booting without the GPU installed; it could be causing a failure. Speaking of the CMOS battery, while 2-3 years is typically young for a battery, if it was an older model that sat before being sold, it might fail earlier. If you have a multimeter, you can check the battery voltage—it should be around 2.7V or higher. If that's all good, you might be looking at a problematic motherboard or CPU, but RAM issues are less likely. If you share your CPU and motherboard details, I might be able to offer more tailored advice.
Have you checked for any debug LED indicators on your motherboard? They can help pinpoint the issue if your motherboard has them. Also, if they’re accessible from the back panel, that could be useful information too, especially since you’re using an ASRock board.
