My PC Won’t Boot After Swapping Power Supply – Any Ideas?

I just swapped out my old EVGA 750 B2 power supply for a new Corsair RM1000x in my home theater PC. I used all the new cables that came with the Corsair unit, but now my PC won't boot at all. To troubleshoot, I tried using the old EVGA PSU again, and it worked fine with just the motherboard cable connected. Any thoughts on what might be wrong? I did notice that the ethernet cable lights up when I toggle the power switch on the Corsair PSU, which gives me some hope.

What motherboard are you using? The new Corsair RM series may not provide -12V anymore, which can cause compatibility issues if your motherboard relies on it.

I'm using the MSI MPG Z690 Carbon.

Got it! That could definitely be a factor. Just make sure all connections are secure and check if you need to use specific cables.

I had a similar issue once. It turned out I was using an old SATA cable from my previous PSU which was causing problems. Make sure to swap all cables with the new ones that came with Corsair, especially for your HDDs.

(Solved) After a few hours troubleshooting, I figured out that my old SATA cable was the issue. I switched it with the new one from Corsair and it booted up just fine!

Glad you got it working! Sometimes it's the little things that cause the most headaches.
