Hey everyone, I hope you can help me out! I was in the middle of gaming when my PC suddenly black screened. I've followed all the usual troubleshooting steps: I've swapped out the GPU, checked the CPU, tested with just one RAM stick, cleared the CMOS battery, and even removed the boot drive. But nothing works – it won't turn on at all! Here's a rundown of my build for context:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x
- GPU: RTX 3070 Aorus Master
- Motherboard: Asus Strix B550F
- RAM: 2x8GB DDR4 G.Skill Trident Z 3200MHz CL14
- PSU: 750W Gold+ (Silverstone)
- Storage: 256GB M.2 as boot drive and a 2TB hard drive.
Is it possible that my motherboard is dead? I'd really appreciate any insight you have!
Update: Despite all my attempts, I keep getting a black screen with no signal. I tried updating the BIOS but that didn't work either. Initially, there was a static light during boot, and now it's showing GPU plus boot light, but I got an error code 02 on the motherboard. Would love to know what you think!

Sorry to hear about your PC troubles! I've seen issues like this before. If you’re sure your GPU is plugged in correctly (remember to check that you’re using the right port and not the motherboard’s), make sure the CPU is seated properly and that thermal paste is applied correctly. Often, you might have to press the RAM or GPU into their slots a bit harder until they click into place. Also, double-check that your BIOS is updated correctly. If it's an older board, maybe consider if it was used before and if that could be affecting it. If all else fails, it might be time to consider that the motherboard could be faulty.
That sounds frustrating! I built my current rig about six years ago too and ran into a similar problem once. Out of the blue, my monitor just went dark and nothing worked after that. Turned out to be the motherboard, so fingers crossed yours isn't suffering the same fate!
