Should I Use Two Routers or a WiFi Extender for Better Internet?

I'm living in an older house while my brother is in a newer addition. The main router is on his side, and the WiFi signal on my side is terrible. I'm considering either installing a coaxial cable on my side for my own WiFi plan or running an Ethernet cable from my brother's side to a WiFi extender on my side. I've already tried a WiFi repeater, but it didn't work well. What would be a better solution for improving my internet speed? I'm open to any other suggestions too!

Just a heads up, if you were thinking about asking your ISP to run a new coaxial cable, they usually won’t do that for a second service. Using a splitter is typically not an option for internet. A mesh network could also work well for your situation. However, running an Ethernet cable from your brother's router to your side might be the easiest way. You can just plug your own router into it, and you won't need much configuration if his router is set up to automatically assign IPs.

If you can run an Ethernet cable, I’d definitely suggest that. It will give you a much more stable connection compared to wireless options, even if the pings might go up just a bit. Overall, it’s the best choice for solid internet.

Thanks for the advice! I think I’m leaning toward that option now.
