I've been having a weird issue with my PC lately. Whenever I try to put it to sleep, it acts like I shut it down completely. The power button doesn't even blink, and my keyboard turns off. I can't wake it up unless I hit the power button, and when I do, the fans spin and the RGB lights come on, but the power button starts flashing like it's sleeping. My keyboard stays dead, and my monitors don't wake up either—if I turn them on manually, they say there's no signal. It's strange because when the PC is on, everything runs perfectly fine.
I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps over the past few days, but nothing has worked:
- Reinstalled the GPU driver using DDU
- Cleared CMOS and updated BIOS
- Updated AMD chipset drivers
- Ran DISM and SFC
- Made sure fast startup and modern standby are both off
- Checked Event Viewer with no clues except an unexpected power-off message
- Reinstalled Windows 11 while keeping my files and apps
- Reset power profiles and disabled fast startup again

It sounds like your PC could be trying to sleep but is actually hibernating or shutting down instead. Are you sure your BIOS still supports S3 sleep mode? Some BIOS updates have removed S3 support, and if you disabled modern standby, it can definitely cause issues. You might want to check the sleep study in event viewer for any hints. If none of that shows anything useful, sometimes a clean install can resolve these tricky issues since they can build up over time.
I’d recommend checking the sleep settings to ensure nothing got turned back on. Disabling fast startup in power settings usually helps, but some systems still have glitches. You mentioned it’s worked fine for years—sometimes, a glitch just appears out of nowhere! If possible, doing a clean install once a year can help clear out these issues.
