My PC Won’t Start—What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I'm new here and feeling a bit nervous about posting. I have an old HP PC (model series s5000, I believe it's a s1931a) that I'm trying to get working. I've plugged everything in correctly, but when I press the power button, the monitor shows a status light and then goes to sleep mode with a 'no signal' message. Do you have any tips on what might be wrong or if I should just give up on it?

Hey, I noticed you mentioned the fans—do hear any fan noise when you try to power it on? That could be an indicator if the power supply is working. If the fans don't turn on at all, there might be an issue with the power supply itself or the connections. Just something to check out!

I didn’t hear any fan noise, which is worrying. I’ll double-check the connections again.

Try unplugging everything from your USB ports, except for the mouse. Leave the PC off for about 3 minutes, then turn it back on with just the mouse connected. I faced a similar issue with my external hard drives and this trick helped me get my PC running again. It might work for you too!

Make sure you're pressing the correct power button. Some PCs have a restart button that won't boot from off, so double-check if that's what you're using. It can be a simple mistake, but it happens a lot!

It sounds like you're dealing with some classic startup issues! Make sure to check all the connections, especially the 20-24 pin power cable—sometimes it gets plugged in upside down. I had a similar experience where I thought my motherboard was bad, but it was just that pesky cable. Just flip it around and see if that helps!
