My WiFi Adapter Stopped Working After Unplugging It – Any Fixes?

Hey everyone, I'm really at a loss here. Earlier today, I unplugged my NETGEAR A7500 (AX1800 USB 3.0) WiFi adapter to charge my headphones, and when I plugged it back in later, it just wouldn't work anymore. I've tried everything I could think of: updating drivers, checking the device manager, looking for hidden devices, scanning for hardware changes, even resetting my network, but nothing has worked. Thinking maybe I had damaged it, I bought a new adapter – the NETGEAR A8000 (AXE 3000 USB 3.0). Unfortunately, it's facing the same issues. I upgraded all my drivers and even installed Windows 11, but still nothing. What's troubling is that when I plug either adapter into any USB port, my PC doesn't make the usual notification sound, and it doesn't recognize either adapter. I've checked all ports, and they're working fine. I'm completely stumped and would really appreciate any help!

Have you tried creating a system restore point? If you have one from before these issues started, rolling back might help you get everything back to normal.

I do not have one, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear that — it might make things trickier.

Sometimes, issues like this can be caused by BIOS settings or hardware configurations. Just be careful with any changes, as they can affect your data. Have you checked your BIOS settings yet?

It sounds frustrating! You mentioned trying new USB ports — did you test both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports? Sometimes compatibility issues can crop up with specific ports or adapters.

Yeah, I've tried all the ports I have available.

Got it! It sounds like you’ve done quite a bit. Maybe it’s time to consult a professional.
