Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a tricky situation and could really use your thoughts. Last week, a recruiter contacted me about a job opportunity, and I agreed to let them submit my CV. However, just a few days later, another recruitment agency called me about the same role. They claimed they had exclusivity for three weeks and got me to sign a representation agreement. Now, the first recruiter has scheduled an interview for me with the company this Wednesday. This isn't the first time I've had issues with this company and my first recruiter, and I've already told them that if this happens again, I won't work with them anymore. I'm feeling uncertain about how to move forward. Should I still pursue this opportunity, especially since it seems like the company might not respect exclusivity agreements?

It really depends on your interest in the role. If it's something you want, I’d suggest going to the interview and maybe discussing the situation with the interviewer. This could give you insights into the company's culture and how they handle internal processes. If you’re not that interested, it might be worth blocking that recruiter and sticking with the one that has exclusivity, if you think they're reliable.
Honestly, those exclusivity deals don't matter much in the real world. The company might have realized that the second recruiter isn’t as efficient as they thought. I had a similar scenario where an exclusive recruiter messed up my chance. I’d focus on the fact that the first recruiter got you in front of the hiring manager—that sounds like a win!
I took your advice and accepted the interview. I plan to ask about the situation; I think it's important to know who I'm dealing with. The exclusive recruiter seems solid, and I believe they’re legit since they actually have a consulting team with engineers.
