Need Advice on Building a Gaming PC with My Son

I've been wanting to help my 13-year-old son build his first gaming PC. While I've built a PC in the past, it's been a while, and I want him to take the lead on this project. Our budget isn't huge, so I'm hoping to find ways to save money now and maybe upgrade components later. Here's the list of parts he's interested in using for the build:

1. 16GB DDR5 RAM
2. 1TB SATA SSD
3. 1300W Power Supply
4. RTX 5060 8GB Graphics Card
5. Compatible Motherboard
6. Tempered Glass ATX Case
7. Ryzen 7 7700X CPU
8. Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU Cooler
9. Noctua Thermal Compound

We'll be running Windows on this PC, and I'm looking for suggestions on whether these components are good choices or if there are better options out there.

Honestly, I'd reconsider some of those parts. If you live near a Microcenter, it could be worth checking their prices—I've seen better deals there. Otherwise, I can suggest some alternative parts that may fit your budget better! Check out this build I created on PCPartPicker that only needs a case.

- AMD Ryzen 5 9600X CPU
- Thermalright Assassin CPU Cooler
- Gigabyte X870 EAGLE WIFI7 Motherboard
- 16 GB DDR5 RAM
- 1TB NVME SSD
- PowerColor Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU
- 850W Power Supply

Total cost comes to around $1211.75. Let me know if you want the links to those parts!

That’s a solid build! But could you clarify why you suggest the 9600X over the Ryzen 7? I’ve heard mixed things and it would help to understand the benefits.
