Need Advice on Powering My 5070 GPU

I've done a lot of research on powering GPUs, especially regarding pigtailing, and I'm getting mixed messages. Some sources say the 5070 can handle up to 300 watts, while others suggest it's limited to 150 watts. The 5070 is already quite efficient, but my MSI MAG A650BN power supply only has a couple of 2x6 PCIe cables set up for pigtailing. I'm thinking about undervolting the 5070 to ensure safety since I've invested heavily in my PC and upgrading the PSU isn't appealing to me. If I manage to keep the power draw under 220 watts, that's 150 watts from the PCIe and another 75 from the cable, so I should be okay, right? I'm mainly concerned about any transient spikes. How safe is this setup? Am I treading a thin line?

It really comes down to the quality of your PSU. If you’ve got a high-quality one, you should be fine. Your MSI A650BN is decent, but just make sure it can handle the load comfortably without overheating.

Thanks for the insight! It’s good to know that the PSU quality matters. I’ll keep monitoring the temps.
