I'm excited to build my first computer but I want to make sure I don't end up with the wrong components. I'm aiming for a budget around £1500 (though I can stretch it a bit). Here's what I've picked out:
- Case: Fractal North Charcoal - £120
- Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX Wifi - £220
- Power Supply: 1200W Be Quiet! Pure Power 12M Modular 80 Plus Gold - £150
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s DDR5 - £110
- Storage: 2TB Crucial T705 M.2 2280 PCI Express 5.0 x4 NVMe SSD - £188
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900 (12 Core/24 Thread) - £280
- GPU: AMD RX 7800 XT - £500
Could anyone point out any potential issues or give advice on my selection? Thanks!

Check out this well-rounded build I created on PCPartPicker: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/JDD9HW. It’s tailored for gaming and should fit within your budget!
You might want to reconsider that 1200W PSU; 850W should be plenty for your setup. Also, instead of the RX 7800 XT, you could look into the 9070XT for better performance. For the CPU, if you're mainly gaming, downgrading to the 9600X or the 9700X might save you some cash but still perform well. And don’t forget about a CPU cooler! The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 is a great option if you don't have one yet.
Totally! Having extra wattage can help with future upgrades, but you don’t necessarily need that much right now.
What's your primary use case for this build? Are you focusing mostly on gaming? That'll help gauge if you need all this power.
Yeah, mostly just for gaming!
I did miss it in the list! I was planning on the BeQuiet! Shadow Rock LP CPU Cooler with Pure Wings 2 Fan. The high wattage was suggested to me for future upgrades—does that actually make sense?
