Need Help Building a High-Performance PC for Heavy Excel Use

I need some assistance with building a powerful PC for my boss, who frequently uses seven monitors to work on massive Excel files, some going up to 58 MB. We're working with a budget of $1400, and I'm pretty lost when it comes to PC specifications. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Before picking components, it might be a good idea to check what exactly is slow. If the Excel edits are taking about 15 seconds each, performance definitely needs some tweaking. But with $1400, you can build a solid PC. Make sure it has a capable graphics card too; some of them integrate well with multiple monitors. Also, look into getting a power supply that can handle all those components reliably.

Great point about the graphics card! I didn't think about how the GPU could affect that many monitors.

Using seven monitors for Excel is intense! First thing to consider is the PC specs. You might want to focus on a fast processor and a good amount of RAM. If Excel is slow on your current system, it could be due to limited CPU power or insufficient RAM. You should aim for at least 16GB of RAM, and a decent multi-core CPU like an AMD Ryzen 5 or Intel i5 will help a lot. Also, think about getting an SSD if your boss isn't using one already, as that can speed up loading times significantly!

Definitely get that SSD! We replaced regular drives in our office PCs, and it made a huge difference, especially with large files.
