Need Help Building My First Gaming PC on a Budget

Hey everyone! I'm planning to build my first PC for my birthday this month and my budget is a bit tight. I've been looking at the budget recommendations for affordable builds and here's what I'm considering:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core
- **Motherboard**: Gigabyte B550 GAMING X V2
- **Memory**: Silicon Power GAMING 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200
- **Storage**: Patriot P400 Lite 1 TB NVMe SSD
- **Video Card**: Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB
- **Case**: Phanteks Eclipse G370A ATX Mid Tower
- **Power Supply**: Montech APX 650 W 80+ Certified

To save some cash, I was advised to swap the NVMe SSD for a 500 GB SSD priced at $78. I'm just looking to play games like Monster Hunter and The Isle on high graphics without lag. My overall budget is between $800 and $1000. Any thoughts or suggestions on how I can make this build more affordable?

Consider getting a GPU with at least 8GB of VRAM. The 5060 might not cut it for future-proofing your build. Also, you should seriously think about used parts, especially for the GPU; you can often find powerful cards like a 3080 for around $300, which would drastically improve your performance.

That’s a great point! I have the 5060, and while it's decent, you won't get the same performance as with a higher-end card like the 3080.

Or check out the Intel Arc B580. It’s cheaper than the 5060 and offers good performance for the price.

Hey, fellow newbie! I'm also considering the 5060, but I’ve been told that it might not have enough VRAM. It might be a good idea to research some more powerful options, like the 9060XT. It also seems like your motherboard choice could be improved too. But honestly, your list looks good for a first build!

Yeah, just remember that for your first build, you want it to be manageable, so don’t stress too much about the top specs.

Also, make sure to set your game resolution to 1080p. Monster Hunter has had optimization updates, so it should run fine on a solid entry-level setup.

Your build is quite balanced overall! Just keep in mind that going for the lower-priced SSD might limit your storage options down the line. Aim for at least 16GB of RAM as a minimum. And if budget allows, consider the 9060XT instead of the 5060—it tends to offer better performance!

Don't forget to pick up a CPU cooler and thermal paste! They're essential for keeping your CPU running smoothly. Usually, they don't come with the CPU itself, so make sure you budget for that too.
