Need Help Choosing My Next Graphics Card Upgrade

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a jam trying to pick the right GPU to upgrade from my current 2070 Super. Right now, I have a 1440p monitor, but I'm thinking about stepping up to 4K gaming in the near future. I'm torn between getting a powerful 5090 for a hefty price of about £2000 to £2500 (or $2600 to $3200) or if I should save some cash and buy a 5070ti for around £750 ($1000) or a 5080 for around £1000 ($1300). My concern is that if I invest in the 5090 now, a new series could come out in a couple of years that would offer even better performance—maybe 1.5 to 2 times better at a similar cost. What do you all think? Should I go for the expensive 5090 now or hold off and get a more affordable option? I really appreciate your insights!

I say go for the 5080. It’s like the 4070 or 4070 ti of this generation, even though it’s a bit pricier. It might give you better future-proofing.

Do you really think the extra $300 is worth it? The difference between the 5070ti and 5080 doesn't seem massive.

You really skipped the 30xx and 40xx series by sticking with the 2070 Super, so consider if you want to upgrade from 50xx to 60xx in just a couple of years. If you can wait, the cheaper options might be smarter since they'll still be solid for a while!

Totally agree! The 3090 is about 4 to 5 years old now and still runs pretty well at 4K for most games.

Definitely, if the 5070ti is just £750, and the next series leaps ahead in a couple of years, it’s a solid plan.
