Need Help Deciding Between Sticking with Node.js or Mastering JavaScript First

I've been diving into backend programming for about a month now, but I haven't been super consistent. I'm currently taking a Node.js and Express course, and while I have a basic understanding of JavaScript, writing it still feels challenging. I can grasp some concepts like async patterns and event loops, but I wonder if I should focus on mastering JavaScript first before continuing with Node.js. Also, I'm really struggling with the tutorial. When I follow along, I often forget what I've learned, and I'm not sure where to start with project-based learning. I'd appreciate any advice from seasoned developers on how to navigate this. Plus, a little reassurance wouldn't hurt since I'm a 4th-year CS student still trying to find my footing in coding!

Stick with the Free Code Camp course! Completing a single resource is usually the best path when you're learning. If you hit a snag with a topic, take some time to research that before moving on. I went through something similar when I learned Django—a bumpy ride, but worth it in the end!

I tried doing mini projects myself and found it so much more enjoyable than just following tutorials!
