Hey everyone! I just switched from Windows to Ubuntu yesterday and I'm really enjoying it so far. I've had a Steam Deck for a bit, so I'm not completely new to Linux, just Ubuntu. I installed Steam and tried to play a couple of games that I usually enjoy on Windows. However, Elden Ring, which has a gold rating on ProtonDB and works flawlessly on my Steam Deck, won't launch at all. I'm using the Flatpak version of Steam and Proton Experimental. When I hit play, it says it's launching for a second but then nothing happens. This is the last hurdle to me feeling totally at home with Linux, so any help would be awesome!

Have you checked what file system the partition where the game is installed uses? That could be causing some conflicts.
You might want to avoid using the Flatpak version of Steam altogether. Try installing the regular version and see if launching Elden Ring works better.
One thing that might help is trying a different version of Proton. I've found that switching it up can often solve the problem, so give that a shot!
I’ve already tried a bunch of different Proton versions, like the default one, experimental, and the hotfix.
What’s the issue with the Flatpak version? Is there a big difference?
