Need Help Setting Up My Canon Wireless Printer

Hey everyone! I'm trying to set up my Canon Pixma IX 6820 printer wirelessly, but it's been quite the challenge. I've downloaded the Canon Print app on my iPad and iPhone, but it won't detect the printer. Both devices are connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and I also connected this printer to my MacBook via an Ethernet to USB hub. I ran into some issues while downloading the software initially, but eventually got it to work without errors. However, I haven't printed anything yet through the wired connection because I'm focused on getting it to connect wirelessly. The network tool didn't recognize the printer while it was connected via USB either. I've already rebooted the printer and the router, and I've pressed the WPS button but still no luck. I'm running out of ideas and am considering calling in a tech wizard for help. This shouldn't be this difficult, right? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you've done a lot of troubleshooting already! Just a heads up, the printer should ideally connect directly to the router via Ethernet, rather than through the computer. After you press the WPS button on the router, make sure to select the Wi-Fi network on the printer (if it allows for that option via the app). It's supposed to make connecting simpler, eliminating the need for a password.

I've tried pressing the WPS button but it's still not getting detected by the app. I think I might have to try connecting it directly to my router instead.

That's the trick! I connected mine via Ethernet to the router first, and then it worked seamlessly to connect wirelessly after that. Give it a shot!

Have you checked out the manual? Sometimes it has specific steps for Wi-Fi setup that aren't obvious. Try connecting it directly to the router first to establish the connection, then go through the app again. That might just do the trick!

Glad to hear you got it sorted! Sometimes it's those little steps that make a big difference.

Thanks! I finally figured it out—I had to do the wired connection first, and now it's connecting wirelessly! I had no idea to try that!
