Need Help Troubleshooting RDP Authentication Error

I'm reaching out for some assistance because I'm a bit stuck with a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) issue. I need to grant temporary access to an ex-employee for a client. I've set up a Sophos Connect VPN and configured the on-site PC to accept RDP connections, but I'm encountering an error when they try to log in. The error message states, 'An authentication error occurred - the token supplied to the function is invalid.' What's puzzling is that the timestamp on the error is one hour behind the clocks on both my PC and the remote PC. I've checked the routers at both ends, and their times are correct, aligning with both PCs.

We have a unique setup with a group of clients in the same industry, where we don't manage the domain, and the domain owners provide minimal support. Additionally, Network Level Authentication (NLA) is enabled via Group Policy and I'm unable to disable it. Normally, this can sometimes resolve such issues. The remote PC's time server is properly set to the on-site Domain Controller (DC), but I'm still confused about where this erroneous timestamp in the error is originating from. Any insights on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Since this is an ex-employee, there's a chance they could have old credentials stored on their computer from when their account was active. Ask them to clear out any cached credentials in case that's causing the issue.

Have you checked the time on the hardware that's running the VPN? It's tough to pinpoint the cause of the error without more details. It could be tied to the policies in place as well.

Thanks for the help! I checked the credential manager and didn't find anything. However, I'm starting to wonder if I checked this under the local admin account instead of the domain user. I'll verify this tomorrow.
