I'm planning to upgrade my son's PC as a Christmas surprise. It's an older system from 2017, and I want to keep the case and possibly the power supply if they're still good. I'm looking for a compatible hardware bundle since I'm comfortable assembling the parts, but I often struggle with compatibility issues. I have a budget of around $750. The computer currently has a GTX 1080 graphics card, and I'm open to using AMD components as well. Is it possible to do this within my budget? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

For checking compatibility, definitely use PCPartPicker. It would help to know the rest of the specs, particularly the case and power supply. If he's got decent storage like an SSD, that could likely carry over as secondary storage. For now, you could carry over the GTX 1080. Here's a possible build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NLcb74. It's budget-friendly and has good options!

The case is a full-size one, which should help! If you're worried about him finding out, just grab the specs when you can.
