I'm having a frustrating issue where my PC is crashing with a DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION blue screen of death every time I try to play a game. The crashes happen about five minutes into gameplay. I've tried reinstalling Windows through the settings, but I encountered errors. I even attempted to install a fresh version using a USB flash drive, but that also failed with some error message. This has been going on for about a week now, with the PC working fine one day and then crashing the next. I've checked for Windows updates and GPU driver updates, but nothing seems to solve the problem. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on before I lose my mind and toss my PC out the window?

It sounds like your issue with the DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION error is likely related to a problem with your device drivers. This can happen if they're outdated or corrupted, or if there's an issue with your hardware. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve it:

1. **Update your drivers**: Open Device Manager, look for any devices with a yellow triangle, and update their drivers. You might also want to check the manufacturer's website for the latest versions.

2. **Disable Driver Verifier**: If you've enabled Driver Verifier to stress-test your drivers, it might be causing the BSOD. To disable it, press Win + R, type 'verifier', and choose "Delete existing settings". Restart your computer afterward.

3. **Check your hardware**: Run diagnostics to ensure your RAM and other components are working fine. Most manufacturers have built-in diagnostics that can help.

4. **Run system file scans**: Open Command Prompt as an admin and run 'sfc /scannow' to check for corrupted Windows files.

5. **Update your BIOS/UEFI**: If your BIOS is outdated, it could lead to compatibility issues with your drivers. Check the manufacturer's site for updates.

I checked my Device Manager, and there is one device showing an issue, but it says my drivers are up to date. Should I try to uninstall it and then reinstall?

I had a similar issue where my driver was showing as updated, but I had to go to the manufacturer's site to get the correct version. It fixed my problem!

For this specific blue screen error, here's a breakdown of what might be causing it:
- **Outdated or corrupted drivers** can definitely cause this. Make sure all drivers are the latest.
- **Driver Verifier being enabled** can lead to issues if it finds faults, so disabling it can help.
- **Faulty hardware** like RAM or issues with the motherboard can also be culprits. Running hardware diagnostics is a must here.
- **Corrupted system files** play a role too, so running a system file check is crucial.

Following these steps should help you stabilize your system and get back to gaming!

Thanks for the breakdown! Just ran the sfc /scannow command, and it found some issues. Fingers crossed it helps!

Also, don't forget to check if your BIOS is up to date. Sometimes that can lead to driver conflicts too.
