Hey everyone! I'm trying to set up a dual-boot system and need some guidance. Currently, I have an NVMe drive with games and an SSD that's running Windows 10. I'm considering buying another SSD to install Linux Mint on. My question is, will I need to get another SSD for my games, or can I just play them off the NVMe drive while in Mint (excluding the anti-cheat ones that require Windows)? I appreciate any advice, and sorry if this question has been answered before!

Be careful when adding a second OS; the Linux installation could potentially overwrite the Windows bootloader. Make sure to back up your data and research the install processes to avoid any mishaps!
It's usually best to run large files like games on a Linux partition (like ext4). This way, you'll get better performance and won't run into the issues that come from using NTFS, which can be problematic for games. It's recommended to move or redownload your games on Linux and free up space on Windows. Also, if you're planning on dual booting, make sure to install Windows first and then Linux Mint to avoid boot issues.
Got it! But does that mean I'll need two SSDs for Linux? I'm just interested in playing the games that don't require Windows.
Yes, two SSDs would be ideal for multiple OS setups. But if you only care about certain games, you might be okay playing them off your NVMe.
