Hey all,
We're gearing up for a migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 for one of our subsidiary offices, which has 36 users. Here are some specifics to consider:
- Two users have mailboxes over 400GB, and 15 users are over 100GB each.
- There's a total of about 850GB in a Google Shared Drive.
- We currently use Google Vault for compliance.
- We're thinking about going with Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Exchange Online Plan 2 because the subsidiary's already got Microsoft Office Home & Business and there's no budget for Office 365 E3 or Premium.
- We plan to use BitTitan for the migration, but the timeline is tight since our Google Workspace subscription runs out in 1.5 to 2 months.
I have a couple of questions:
1. Is this licensing combo suitable given our situation?
2. With those large mailbox sizes, do you think we can realistically complete the migration in time?
Since we've not done a migration with such large mailboxes before, any tips, best practices, or pitfalls to avoid would be super appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

Honestly, before shelling out for BitTitan, check out Microsoft's own Migration tool for the drive data. It can handle users and shared drives and it's totally free! In my experience, it was way quicker than BitTitan. Just a suggestion since their support has been spotty lately too.
You’ll likely need to address those mailbox sizes before the migration with BitTitan. But on the bright side, your user count isn't too high, which should make things easier!
Definitely pay attention to the BitTitan transfer limits and the mailbox size restrictions of the Microsoft licenses you're planning to purchase. I'm no fan of BitTitan myself; my experience with it has been pretty rough. Migrating large mailboxes is always a headache. Just be prepared for a bumpy ride!
Hey! I've been through this grind before. Your licensing combo of MS 365 Business Basic plus Exchange Online Plan 2 should work fine. But man, those huge mailboxes are going to be tricky, especially with BitTitan. I’d suggest creating local PST archives for those larger accounts to help out. Just a heads up, the time crunch could make things a bit more stressful, so hang in there! You'll get this done! Good luck! 👍💻
Those are some massive mailboxes! I'm not sure if your license plan will support those sizes. It's worth running a pre-migration test with BitTitan, especially to see how the emails are handled during the transfer. I've done migrations of large mailboxes from Google to Microsoft, and I've managed to get 50GB moved in under 48 hours. We decided to only transfer a few years' worth of emails for the larger accounts due to their sizes, so that might be worth considering.
Awesome, it's good to know the licensing should work!
