Hey everyone! I'm reaching out because I'm a bit lost on a technical issue my boyfriend is having with his keyboard. It started acting up a few weeks ago, where the keys seem to get stuck, but it's not a physical jam. We've tried everything from troubleshooting to factory resets, but nothing seems to work. Now, he thinks it might be his motherboard that's the issue. The main problem is that I can't seem to find the motherboard model, which is an Asus X570-P, anywhere. I've spotted some used ones on eBay, but that feels a bit risky. I did find a ASUS PRIME X870-P motherboard—would that be compatible or do I really need to stick with looking for the X570 model? Thanks for any insights!

You definitely need an AM4 motherboard for his setup, so models like B450, B550, X470, or X570 are your best bets. The new X870-P won't work since that's an AM5 socket, which means it won't fit his CPU at all. Also, did he try another keyboard? Sometimes that's a simpler fix!
Hey! Just to clarify, the X570-P has an AM4 socket, while the X870-P has an AM5 socket, so they are not interchangeable at all. If the keyboard isn't responding, it could be something other than the motherboard. Have you checked for any debris in the keys? It might be causing the sticking issue without it being a hardware failure.
Oh, that's a great point! I'll make sure he checks for crumbs and stuff since he has a fancy keyboard with optical switches. Thanks!
Isn't the first thing to try a different keyboard? If he’s already swapped keyboards and tried all USB ports, it doesn't sound like the motherboard is the issue. Replacing a motherboard is a huge task, so maybe just look for simpler solutions first.
Yeah, he did try a new keyboard right away and checked all ports too. If it turns out to be a failing USB, what’s the best way to handle that?
Thanks for confirming the socket type! And yes, he's already tested a brand new keyboard, so it seems like a motherboard issue might not be the first place to look!
