Hey everyone, I just bought a refurbished PNY 5070 OC to upgrade my desktop and replace my 3070Ti. When I installed the new card, I noticed it has a different power connector. It requires a 12VHPWR cable, but I only have the usual 6+2 PCIe cables, and there was no cable included with the GPU.
After some research, I found out that I need a 12VHPWR cable or adapter that's compatible with the same brand as my power supply, which is a Deepcool DQ750-M-V2. Unfortunately, I discovered that Deepcool isn't operating in the US anymore. I just sent them an email, but I'm not expecting a lot of help.
I'm considering putting my old 3070 back in for now, but I'd like to know: Should I just get a new power supply, or is there a safe adapter that works with my current PSU? I'm really hesitant to buy an adapter because I don't want to risk damaging my PC or starting a fire. Any advice would be appreciated!

If you're considering replacement, it might be a good idea to invest in a new power supply. It ensures compatibility and might provide better performance overall. Just look for one that comes with the required cables for 12VHPWR right out of the box. But if you're on a tight budget or looking for a quick fix, that adapter route could work too!
You probably won’t find cables specific to your PSU, but older models usually just use a PCIe to 12VHPWR adapter like the one that should have come with your GPU. You can buy one online for about $10 on eBay. Just search for "nvidia oem 12vhpwr" and you'll see a lot of options. Make sure to get one with two PCIe 8-pin connectors, but some that have three will work too if they’re cheaper. Just avoid right-angled connectors since they may not fit properly with the 50 series GPUs.
Did you check where you bought the GPU? Sometimes they include an adapter to convert PCIe 6+2 cables to 12VHPWR. It might be worth checking out!
