No Display After Installing My New RTX 3070, What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I recently bought a used PC that didn't come with a GPU and installed an RTX 3070 today. I did some research and saw that the previous benchmarks with the old GPU showed the system was working fine. Since I'm pretty new to building PCs, I'm a bit lost here. The previous owner reformatted the drive, so I'm unsure if that wiped the drivers too. When I power it on, the fans spin up and the lights come on, but I can't get any display. I've tried connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort to the GPU and also plugged the monitor directly into the motherboard to access BIOS, but since I'm using an i5 13600kf, there's no integrated graphics. I did check the monitor on another PC, and it's working fine. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

What’s the wattage of your power supply? Make sure all power plugs for the GPU are connected. The 3070 typically needs a 12-pin connector with an adapter. Ideally, you want at least a 450w PSU, but more is better.

Your CPU and motherboard are newer than the 3070, so it shouldn't be a BIOS issue. Do you have another PC to test the 3070? That could help rule out if the GPU is faulty.

Make sure the GPU is seated properly and all power cables are connected. If your motherboard doesn't have status LEDs or a PC speaker, it might be harder to diagnose other issues. But check those connections first!

You might need to update your BIOS since the 3070 is newer. However, you may need a cheap CPU with dedicated graphics to handle the BIOS update, which is a common practice.

If the HDD or SSD was formatted, it likely wiped the OS and drivers. For the GPU to work, it has to be plugged in correctly. Remember, with no integrated graphics, if HDMI or DisplayPort is connected to the motherboard instead of the GPU, there won't be any signal. Also, don't forget you'll need a Windows key and a way to install the OS, like a USB or disk!
