I have an HP Envy model 15m-dr0012dx that was originally running Windows 10. My client upgraded to Windows 11, but now there's no audio coming from the laptop. Both Intel and Realtek audio devices show up in Device Manager without any issues indicated, but Windows audio says there's 'no output device.' There aren't any Windows 11 drivers available for this model on HP's website. I'm trying to download the latest from Realtek, but their service seems really slow. I'm wondering if there's a solution to restore audio, or should I suggest wiping the system and reinstalling Windows 10? Also, would he need to pay $30 for security updates after October, or should he just consider buying a new laptop? It's a shame since it's a nice device!

You might want to visit the HP drivers site directly and enter your model's serial number to see if there are any specific audio drivers available. HP often provides custom drivers, and it’s possible Windows just installed generic ones that might lack important features. Give that a shot!
If you're still stuck, sometimes toggling the BIOS settings can help restore the functionality. Just make sure to back up your data first. It could also be worth looking online for community forums; someone might have a solution that’s not on the main HP site.
I tried that too, but it seems there are only Windows 10 drivers for my model. That's a bit frustrating!
