Hey everyone! I recently built a new PC with an MSI B550-A PRO motherboard, AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU, and I initially had an RTX 2060 GPU. I just upgraded to an RTX 4060, but I made the mistake of forgetting to connect the 8-pin PCIe power connector to the new GPU. I powered on the system without it, saw that there was no display, and quickly turned it off to connect the power. Now, however, my PC won't boot at all. My PSU is a NZXT C850, which is around a year old, and other devices plugged into the USB ports still get power, so I don't think the PSU is the issue. I've tried a hard reset on the PSU, reset the CMOS using the JBAT1 pins, and unplugged and replugged everything into the motherboard. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I know it was a silly mistake, but I'm hoping it can be fixed!

One thing to consider is whether your motherboard has any diagnostic LEDs or beeps that could indicate what the problem might be. If it has, checking those could help pinpoint the issue. Also, have you tried booting with just the CPU and one stick of RAM to see if it powers up? Sometimes, stripping it down to the basics can help identify where the issue lies.
It sounds like your PSU should be sufficient, but if your system doesn't boot even with the 4060 removed, there might be another issue. First, try reseating the RAM and checking all your connections again. Sometimes a loose cable can cause these problems. If your RTX 2060 worked before, try putting it back in and see if the system boots. If it does, it may confirm something's up with the hardware swap or seating issues with the new GPU.
Yeah, definitely check the RAM! I had a similar experience where a RAM stick was slightly loose, and my PC wouldn’t boot. Also, make sure to check if anything got accidentally unplugged when you were swapping GPUs.
Good call! I haven't checked for those LEDs yet. I’ll definitely try booting with just the CPU and one RAM stick to see if I can get it to power up.
