PC Won’t Shut Down After Replacing HDD with New SSD

Hi everyone! I'm having a bit of an issue with my PC. I previously had one SSD for my operating system and an HDD for storing data, but the HDD was on its last legs. I decided to replace it with a new SSD. I cloned the existing HDD to the new SSD, but I ran into an issue where one of the partitions wouldn't clone due to error 9. So, I went ahead and manually copied the contents of that problematic partition. Now, everything seems to be working fine, except for one thing: my PC won't shut down properly. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

I get where you're coming from, but manually copying files can also lead to transferring bad sectors if they exist on the HDD. It might be a better idea to not use that cloned data and try to recover files from the HDD in a different way if you suspect any corruption.

It sounds like you might have run into some issues because of the dying HDD. Typically, cloning a failing drive isn't the best move, as any corruption could get transferred over. Instead, it’s better to install the new SSD, create the necessary partitions on it, and then manually copy the files you need from the failing drive. You might want to consider a secure wipe of the SSD and start fresh. Also, does your PC shut down correctly if the new SSD is disconnected?
