Problems with Clean Installing Windows 11 on My Dell Laptop

I've got an old Dell Inspiron laptop, and I ran into some issues after updating to Windows 11. I was trying to clear up some storage space by deleting the windows.old folder, but things went south. I asked a friend for help, but I think he made things worse by uninstalling apps and drivers before attempting a reset. Now, when I try to reset and reinstall Windows 11 from the cloud, it gets to a certain point but then just undoes the changes and takes me back to the login screen.

I also tried to create a bootable USB installation device using the Microsoft website. I followed all the instructions, but when I boot from the USB, it only gets to 11% during installation, then it just shuts off. Did my friend mess up my laptop?

First off, it's a good idea to double-check if your older laptop is even compatible with Windows 11. It could be that the hardware can't handle the update properly. You can check Dell's support site to confirm compatibility. If it did install initially but has issues now, there's a chance something went wrong during the attempts to clean up storage or when your friend uninstalled those apps and drivers. It might be a hardware issue. Make sure your BIOS and firmware are updated—this can sometimes cause installation problems too.

Seriously, take a look at your BIOS settings and make sure nothing's off there. If you're still having trouble, you might want to try using a different USB stick or re-download the Windows installation files. Sometimes the installation file can get corrupted, and that might cause the installation to fail. Also, ensure that your laptop isn't overheating; that would definitely lead to a shutdown during installation.
