Random Black Screens on My New PC: Need Help!

Hey everyone! I recently bought my first PC, just a week ago, and I'm already facing a frustrating issue. I'm experiencing random black screens whether I'm actively working or just letting the desktop sit idle. When the black screen occurs, I can regain the display by connecting my HDMI or Display Port to the motherboard, but I can't get it back through my GPU. I've tried stress testing, but I haven't been able to reproduce the black screens on demand. I've tested different monitors, and I've also used DDU to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. I switched the PCI Express settings to Gen 4 and ensured everything is set to High Performance in Power Options. I've also turned off any screen savers and sleep mode. Reducing the refresh rate and G-Sync hasn't been an option for me, and my BIOS is already updated. It's really stressful because I feel like I've wasted so much time on this. Any suggestions on what I should do? Here are my specs: Motherboard: ASUS Rog Strix Crosshair x870e Hero, Processor: AMD 9 9950X3D, RAM: 32GB x 2 Kingston Fury DDR5 RAM, GPU: PNY GeForce RTX 5080 16GB, PSU: CORSAIR RM1000X SHIFT 1000 WATTS 80 PLUS GOLD, SSD: Kingston KC3000 2TB.

Did you change the monitor cable? Faulty cables can lead to issues like this. There’s a Pin 20 issue with display ports that could be causing the problem too. It’s worth checking out!

I used both Display Port and HDMI with different monitors, but the cables were what came with the PC. Just to double-check, I'll look into using a different monitor cable.

Try reseating your GPU and make sure all power connections are snug. Sometimes, errors with the nvlddmkm driver can be traced back to hardware issues or power problems from a loose connection. Check your Event Viewer for errors too!

Thanks! I'll definitely give that a try.

Sounds rough! If the basic troubleshooting hasn't worked, I'd suggest you consider returning it. If the problem is random, they might take a while to find and fix it. Just a thought!

I actually sent it back today, but they can't replicate the issue, so I'm stuck waiting for their solutions. It's pretty frustrating.
