I'm looking to upgrade my current gaming setup to be compatible with Windows 11 while keeping my existing hardware. Here's my current setup:
- Processor: Intel Core i5-4670 4x3.4GHz
- Graphics Card: 8GB Gainward GeForce GTX 1070 (Phoenix Goes Like Hell)
- RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3-1600
- Motherboard: ASRock H87 Pro4
- Storage: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB
- Case: Corsair
I mostly play light games like World of Warships and don't want to replace the GTX 1070. What motherboard and CPU would you recommend? This is my first build, and I'm on a tight budget. I'd consider replacing the RAM and SSD later, but I'd like to reuse them if possible in the new build. Thanks for your help!

Is your current motherboard compatible with Windows 11? If you can find an Intel Core i7-4790k at a good price, it can overclock well and should work fine with your GTX 1070. However, if you want to future-proof your build, it might be better to save a bit more and go for a newer CPU that supports upgrades later, like one of the X3D chips. Just remember, spending less now might mean limitations down the line with your GPU.
What’s your budget and where are you located? Since you might need to buy new RAM too, that could change the recommendations.
I'm in Germany and trying to keep it around EUR 200, but for new RAM maybe I could stretch to EUR 300.

Yeah, unfortunately, my current motherboard won't support Windows 11.
