I'm planning a new PC around a Ryzen 5 7600X3D and I'm choosing between an RX 9060 XT with 16GB of VRAM and an RTX 5060 Ti with 8GB. They cost about the same, although the RTX card is $20 cheaper. I currently play at 1080p but plan to upgrade to a 3440×1440 ultrawide monitor. My games include Osu!, Geometry Dash, Rocket League, Zenless Zone Zero, Genshin Impact, Need for Speed Unbound, FIFA 26, and CarX Drift Racing Online. Smooth FPS and resolution matter more to me than ray tracing. Which GPU would be the better long-term choice?

Another option would be pairing a slightly cheaper Ryzen 5 7600 with a stronger GPU such as an RX 9070 GRE. That would improve overall gaming performance more than putting extra money into the CPU, although between the two GPUs you listed, I’d still take the RX 9060 XT 16GB.
I’d choose the RX 9060 XT 16GB. It offers better raw performance for this comparison and the extra VRAM gives it much more breathing room, especially when you move to 3440×1440. Both cards will work well with the 7600X3D, so the CPU isn’t a concern here.
For your priorities, the 9060 XT is the better value. Ray tracing doesn’t seem important for the games you listed, while higher resolution and consistent frame rates are. The 16GB card should be more comfortable for a future ultrawide upgrade, though you should still check benchmarks for any especially demanding game you plan to play.
The RTX 5060 Ti might be slightly faster in games where 8GB isn’t a limitation, and it has advantages such as DLSS and ray tracing. However, newer games can already exceed 8GB at higher resolutions. Once that happens, you may need to lower texture or other graphics settings, and performance can drop noticeably. For the same general price, 16GB is the safer choice.
