Hey everyone! I just got a new Samsung T7 Shield SSD and I'm facing a really slow write speed when trying to copy a folder of photos. It's crawling at about 1 MB/sec or even slower. I'm using an HP laptop (2024 model with an i9 processor and 600GB of free space), and I've updated to the latest drivers on Windows 11. I'm connected through a Thunderbolt USB-C port with the cable that came with the SSD. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any solutions? I've read that the T7 Shield can have some problems and I'm feeling pretty let down here.

I’m not familiar with that SSD specifically, but I suggest trying to transfer a single large file—like something over 200MB—to see if the speed improves. USB transfers can have a lot of overhead, which can slow things down with multiple smaller files. Also, since Windows doesn't always handle file transfers well, maybe try using a dedicated copying program like FastCopy. Start with a portable version and see if that helps!
Have you double-checked the capabilities of your USB port? Sometimes the speeds can vary based on the type of port you're using. Just make sure it's indeed a Thunderbolt port—look for that lightning symbol next to it!
Make sure to install Samsung's Magician software to check if there’s a firmware update available for your SSD. Sometimes that can resolve performance issues. Mine did!
I actually installed Magician and checked the firmware. It’s all up to date.

Thanks for the tips! I'll test out those methods!
