I'm an EU citizen living in a lower-cost country and currently working as a DevOps professional with a PhD and two years of experience at a multinational company. I'm considering expanding my job search mainly due to financial reasons and I believe targeting fully remote positions, ideally in the USA or high-paying countries within the EU, would be most beneficial. I'm looking to optimize my search process and set up a strategy since I'm not in a rush.
Here's what I'm thinking:
1. Use LinkedIn for finding remote job listings—any other good resources? Maybe Glassdoor?
2. Identify people working in the companies with promising job postings and reach out to them for insights about the company culture, what they're looking for, and potential referrals.
3. Draft a comprehensive version of my CV that includes all my experiences, beyond what's typically listed in job descriptions.
4. Use an AI tool to tailor my "big" CV to specific job descriptions, with my guidance.
5. Apply to as many relevant positions as possible using this targeted approach, as I'm not a fan of a one-size-fits-all CV.
I'm curious—what approaches have worked for others in applying to higher-paying companies in the USA or HCOL areas? What job application strategies have you found effective, aside from networking, which I'm also planning to explore?

I think it's great that you have a detailed plan! Since you have a PhD, it might be beneficial to create both a traditional 1-2 page resume and your full CV. Some employers prefer concise formats, while others appreciate the detailed overview. Try both to see what resonates in your applications—some colleagues find success with the longer format!

That’s a good point! But I wonder if focusing on a shorter CV might highlight the most relevant skills better. I guess it's all about testing what works.
