Seeking Advice for High Refresh Rate 1440p Build

Hey everyone! I'm working on building a high-refresh-rate 1440p gaming PC. I've already bought a black Gigabyte RTX 5080 Windforce and a PSU. Currently, I need to choose a CPU, motherboard, and RAM, and I'm looking for some recommendations. I prefer to buy everything separately to ensure the best compatibility and performance, especially to hit the highest refresh rates. I'm considering some options from Micro Center, but I'm a bit unsure about the motherboard and RAM combinations. Also, I have a Corsair Air case in mind, but I'm open to other suggestions for cases, fans, and cables too. Let me know your thoughts!

For your RAM, I’d suggest something like DDR5-6000 CL30 or CL36. Just a heads up, going for RAM that's too fast can actually cause your clock speeds to drop, so keep it within that range. It’s all about balance!

Got it! But what’s the actual difference between CL30 and CL36? Is it really that noticeable?

If you have access to Micro Center, I'd say go for their bundles. They usually include solid motherboards with both the 9800X3D and 9850X3D CPUs, plus they come with good quality RAM. Even though CL36 is a slight downgrade from CL30, it’s worth it for the savings you get on the entire package. Trust me, you won't find a better deal anywhere else!

Thanks for the info! I already have my main system, but I’m setting this up for high refresh gaming with my new monitor. Any specific choices you'd recommend for the motherboard?
