Seeking Better File Storage Solutions for Remote Teams

Hey everyone! We're currently on the lookout for a better server or file storage solution because our design team needs quick syncing between computers, and OneDrive just isn't cutting it for us. We've been using Azure file share (smb:\azfiles.xxxxx.commarketingpoc), which works great about 90-95% of the time while we're in the office. However, with more of our team working remotely, it's become a challenge. One designer feels the lag really affects her productivity when she's at home, and another team member in the UK finds Azure nearly impossible to use. We're hoping to find a way to access each other's files with minimal delay, no matter where we are. Any suggestions for workarounds or alternative solutions would be super helpful! Thanks!

Have you considered using an Azure Virtual Desktop for your designer? It keeps the workload closer to the files and provides better access security. Plus, you can set it up to start when someone connects and shut down when idle, which is super efficient! Also, Azure File Sync with cloud tiering might be worth looking into—it syncs local copies from Azure Files effectively using local cache servers.

We've used this setup for people across continents and it's worked really well!

One idea might be to rethink your workflow. What if your designer worked on files locally and then uploaded them when finished? For some types of work, relying on NAS storage might not be the best approach.
