Hey everyone,
I hope you're doing well! I'm currently working on planning a PC build that I want to use for gaming, streaming, and possibly some content creation. As a dad, it's not going to be a full-time endeavor for me, but I still want a system that can handle mid-high level performance across those activities. My focus is on achieving competitive PvP and PvE gameplay at 1440p, with enough framerate to keep things smooth.
I've made a lot of changes to my initial mock build based on feedback and further research, and I'm now set on the Ryzen 7 9700x as the core of my system. My original budget was around $1500-$1700, but I've adjusted it to a more realistic $2000-$2200 because I'm considering upgrades and additional components.
Currently, my build includes the following specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 9700x
- Motherboard: ASUS Tuf Gaming B850 plus WiFi 7 (AM5)
- Cooler: Montech Hyperflow ARGB 360
- GPU: XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 Triple Fan
- Memory: Patriot Viper Venom 32GB DDR 6000 CL30
- Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB PCIe 4.0 x 4
- Power Supply: Corsair RM750E
- Operating System: Windows 11
I know I'm nearing the upper limits of my budget, and it gets more complicated when factoring in a monitor, webcam for streaming, mouse, and case. If you could recommend any changes within my budget or point out anything critical I've missed, I would really appreciate it! Also, one last thing – do I need a specific case to fit this build?
Thanks a ton for your help!

Hey! Your build looks solid, especially with the Ryzen 7 9700x. Just a quick note on your GPU – if you're looking for a bit more power, I'd suggest checking out the NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti which could give you great performance at 1440p without breaking the bank. Also, double-check the compatibility of your motherboard with the cooler you’ve chosen, since installing a large cooler in a compact case can sometimes be tricky. As for the case, just make sure it’s ATX compatible to accommodate your board. Good luck with your build!
Your specs are looking great! Just a heads-up on the RAM; since you’re going with 32GB at 6000 MHz, I'd recommend checking your motherboard specs to ensure it fully supports that speed. It’s easy to overlook that, and it could impact performance. As for your storage, the Samsung 990 Pro is excellent for speed and capacity. If you’re thinking about future upgrades, you might also want to consider a case with good airflow to keep everything cool under load. Happy building!

Definitely double-check the case size! I built something similar and ended up with a cooler that barely fit. A mid-tower case should work, but always good to measure.
