Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a laptop that runs Ubuntu smoothly without compatibility issues. I'll primarily be using it for development work, and I want to steer clear of Nvidia GPUs because of the driver problems I've heard about. I'm leaning towards laptops with AMD or Intel integrated graphics. Here are a few key features I'm looking for: good Linux compatibility right out of the box (including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sleep mode, etc.), decent battery life, and solid build quality. I would love to hear about any laptops you guys have had good experiences with while running Ubuntu! Thanks in advance! 😊

Have you heard of the Framework laptop? It comes with an AMD CPU and has swappable components, making it super easy to modify and repair. They also provide pretty good Ubuntu support right out of the box. It is on the pricey side but worth it if you value flexibility!
I recently picked up a Lenovo Carbon X1. I’m pretty satisfied with it! I did run into a minor issue with Wayland on an external monitor, but I managed to fix it with an udev rule.
Thanks! I'll check into that solution.
I'd recommend looking at Lenovo laptops. They usually have good Linux support. Models like the ThinkPad T series or X series are solid options.
Thanks for the tip on Lenovo!
I’ve heard about the Framework before. Thanks for mentioning it! I’ll look into it.
