I then moved to Ubuntu thinking it would be more stable, but I've run into problems with snaps and Flatpaks not theming correctly, and some apps still feel slow.
Here's my setup:

- **Use Case**: I want to learn DevOps basics with technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, do some programming with VS Code, and light web browsing. I don't need gaming or heavy editing—I'm just looking for a reliable daily driver that runs smoothly.
I really dislike it when things break. I'm aiming for fast boot times, responsive apps, and preferably no dependency nightmares or sandboxing quirks that mess with themes. I'm considering Pop!_OS because it's said to be stable, AMD-friendly, and avoids the snap bloat, but I've read about some bugs with COSMIC like focus issues and crashes. Has that improved? Or would I be better off going with Linux Mint Cinnamon? What would you choose if you were in my shoes, looking for something that works right out of the box but still feels modern? Thanks!

You might want to check out Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE). It’s a solid choice because it's based on Debian Stable, which means it’s reliable. You won’t get the latest software versions, but that also means fewer problems. Just keep in mind, you’ll be limited to the Cinnamon environment unless you're comfortable switching it up.
Alternatively, openSUSE Tumbleweed could be a good fit too. Since you don’t game and you have an AMD card, it should work great right away. It offers snapshots, so if something goes wrong after an update, you can roll back to the previous state easily. It’s a stable rolling release, which is pretty rare!
Actually, that's not entirely accurate. You can use different desktop environments with LMDE. I switched out Cinnamon for MATE on my setup!
