I built my PC a few years ago, but lately, the CPU and GPU fans have been really loud. I refreshed the thermal paste recently, but I'm not sure if I did it right. It's been almost three years since I built it, and I'm concerned that both fans might be on their last legs. My current setup has one exhaust fan and three intake fans, but I've noticed that the exhaust fan really pushes out a lot of hot air. I think I can fit one or two more fans on the top of my Corsair ATX 4000X case, but I'm worried about the CPU power cable getting in the way. What do you all think?

Just a heads up, if the top panel isn’t used for fans, it can mess with the air pressure in the case. I suggest sealing it up if you're not using it, possibly with some aluminum tape to improve cooling efficiency. It's been really effective for me!
You can indeed fit two 120mm fans on the top as exhaust. The CPU cable should be fine; it should rest outside of the fan's path. Just ensure everything is cleaned out of dust, and that your case is in a spot where it can get access to cooler air and expel hot air efficiently.
You might want to consider getting a fan extension cable. That way, you can route it away from the top. If you’re worried about it blocking the CPU power pins, that’s also something to think about.
Adding more exhaust fans is usually a good idea! You can manage the cables easily with some cable management solutions. I did the same to keep my cables out of the way and it made a huge difference in airflow.
