I noticed that my iPhone 12 mini's battery health is still at 96%, but I've heard a lot about battery swelling and its potential damage. I rely on my phone for at least the next three years while I save for a new one, and I've seen reports of battery swelling leading to costly repairs. Is this something I really need to worry about?

Battery swelling isn't normal at all. It's a serious issue that could potentially lead to your phone catching fire or getting damaged. Replacing a swollen battery is way cheaper than dealing with the aftermath of a fire, so it's not worth risking it. I had a friend whose Samsung battery swelled up, and they ended up getting both their and their brother's batteries replaced without a hitch. It's just not worth the headache.
Apple actually has a pretty reasonable battery replacement service considering their prices for other things. If you notice any swelling, it could separate parts of the phone and lead to more repair costs. So, keep an eye on that!
Is it possible to notice battery swelling early before it causes any real damage?
